Abstract

Thanks to continuous robust demand for the HTC Desire, the commencement of small-scale shipment for HTC's own-branded Android flagship Smartphones, and the improvement in Foxconn's capacity in delivering the Apple iPhone 4, the Taiwanese Smartphone industry's shipment volume in the third quarter of 2010 is expected to have topped 24.621 million units while the industry's shipment value have stood at US$6.252 billion. This established a new milestone in the Smartphone industry in terms of shipment volume and value. The industry's shipment volume and shipment value is estimated to have enjoyed 94.2% and 96.2% year-on-year growth, respectively, in the third quarter of 2010.
